Make magazine launches new Crafty mag, Craft. Verdict: some neat ideas but a little slim

I love reading about crafting and making things. So I was thrilled when the people who put out Make launched a new title dedicated to crafting! Craft (check out their blog!) is less about welding and electronics and more about knitting, sewing, gluing, and painting your way to a more creative lifestyle.

And I do enjoy it, there’s no denying that. Craft is three issues in and the money I spent on my subscription was totally worth it. But somehow, with the projects section at least, Craft packs less of a punch than Make. Maybe it’s just because it’s still a new title but a lot of the projects are things I’ve seen before. Craft is also thinner than Make even though it is priced the same.

Still, in every issue there is at least one project that makes me sit up and say, “Hey! I want to make that!” And that, in my book, is the measure of a good magazine. I suggest picking up the latest issue for a little inspiration. [Marianne Kirby]
