Meet the bloggers: Marianne Kirby
Hi! My name is Marianne and I make things. All sorts of things. From all sorts of materials. By day, I’m an editor, wielding a mighty red pen of justice. By evening and weekend, I am a craft fiend, bending art and craft supplies to my whim! BWAHAHAHAAA! BWAHAHAAAA! But there is generally less maniacal laughter and more accidents with the hot glue gun.
I think of crafting as an everyday activity. There is always something new to create, something different to figure out and put together. Crafting (and the whole philosophy of DIY culture) adds a lot of satisfaction to my life. I believe, whether you are an occasional weekend crafter or a professional artist, that the time spent making something with your own hands is never wasted.
My materials come from all around me – art/craft supply stores, surplus parts vendors, and junkyards. I love repurposing an old and forgotten object, and turning it into something new and exciting. My inspiration comes from the materials that I find and the textures and colors of my surroundings.
