Ah, Legos. I have awesome childhood memories of building things with these interlocking brick toys. Heck, I have awesome memories from last week of building things with these interlocking brick toys. The sets have gotten more complex but the basic toy remains the same.
I found Lego octopuses not too long ago and decided that I wanted to find a way to wear them. I played around for a while and designed a necklace. But that wasn’t quite enough. I’ve been wearing my freshly dyed cardigans a lot, so I decided to turn one of the octopuses into a brooch.

Pin backs are easy to find at almost any local craft store. I got a bag of 12 for under a dollar. I chose a strong epoxy, mixed it up, and used it to secure the pin back to the flat back of my Lego octopus. I waited 24 hours for the epoxy to fully cure and now I have a fantastic accessory. It’s almost like a secret geek handshake, except it’s a brooch. You can see more pictures of it in my etsy shop. I’ve got some more Lego animals and some more pin backs, so I think I’ll give a Lego alligator brooch a try next.
