The end papers are a really important physical and aesthetical part of any book. Picking the papers you will use can be one of the best parts! It's great to use contrasting colours, fancy papers, and highly patterned designs, as you're only going to see them at the very front and very backs of the book. The end papers are what really hold the book into the casing (or cover).
You need the end papers to be the size of or larger than your book sections when folded in half. Half of the end paper will be attached the the casing, and the other half to the book sections.
First of all, I folded my end papers using my bone folder. Make sure that if your paper has a 'fancy' side, or a neater more pleasing side the the other, that this is inside the folded piece. I then began applying the PVA glue to the book section. To do this, I used a clean piece of scrap paper and positioned it about 1cm away from the spine. I then brushed the glue outwards from the scrap paper towards the edge of the book using my finger. The layer of glue is pretty thin, you don't want it to ruin the end paper or the book section.
The next step is just sticking the end paper onto the book sections, like this.
You need to attach an end paper to both the front and the back of the book, and when attached your book really starts to take shape!
