Currently the wool in our flat inhabits pretty much any spare nook and cranny, turning the premises into some sort of strange yarn graveyard, where leftover skeins quietly lie forgotten and unused. But throwing wool away just isn't an option - not only is it extremely wastey, any self-respecting crafty person will tell you that even the tiniest bits of wool can be useful. Over at Crochet Me magazine, they've written a great feature about using up old wool, offering tips on how to sort it so that you can use it up more efficiently, and suggesting ways of trying out different colour mixes and stitch styles to make the most of your leftovers. Creating colour swatches is such an obvious and easy thing to do, and yet I never bother doing it. Clearly I need to rethink my attitude and get swatching.
