Meet the bloggers: Stephanie Wallace

stephanie%20wallace.jpgMy name is Stephanie Wallace, and I'm a 21 year old Political Science student with an excessive flair for all things crafty.

I hate high heels, zombies, and using patterns; I like dumpster diving, collecting presidential action figures, and playing with my cats. I have three of the little monsters: Rosie (pictured), Jake, and Fiona. Rosie is my genius assistant, always knowing exactly which item to lay on and make disappear with her chubby rolls of kitty fluff. It is because of my sweet Rosie that I have at least 10 stitch rippers.

For the most part, I've been reasonably good at the crafts I've tried...except for two. I can knit, but it takes far longer than even possible and I cannot crochet. I've been trying for years, but these yarn crafts just don't seem to be catching on with my small, stubby fingers.

My favorite craft is sewing. It comes very naturally for me and it's just something I really enjoy doing. I design and sew my own clothing line, called Breaking Free. Within it there are two other lines, a mens' line called Avalanche and a children's line called Cherry Blossom Parade. I also love reworking old furniture, whether it be painting it, reupholstering it, or refinishing pretty wood pieces.

My greatest achievement is probably assimilating my Trekkie beau into the crafty world. He recently took over my machine for a few days to sew me a beautifully deformed rabbit. And let me tell you... if he can work a sewing machine, so can anyone else. So get out your supplies and start reading!
