My favourite fabric shop and embroidery shop are combined in the one building, how lucky! Amitie and Broderie are situated at 281 Centre Road in Bentleigh, Melbourne, Australia. They sell a wonderful array of quilting fabrics, threads, patterns and sewing tools and they host many sewing workshops from quilting to children's bag making.
When i walk into the store i feel welcomed, the ladies that work there are wonderfully friendly and informative. Need help choosing fabrics for your quilt? No problem, they're there with you, pulling bolts of fabric from the shelves, helping you match them up to the pattern you have in mind.
Need some sewing advice? Just ask! Just want to look at and feel the fabrics? No problem! They are always happy to see you and no request is too much trouble. The place is spacious, light and airy. The fabrics and threads are neatly arranged so you can see them at a glance, no need to be pulling things out from under piles.
It's so local to me it is dangerous! I rarely leave empty handed even if i only buy a fat quarter, how can i resist when i'm faced with this when i visit? Pure fabric heaven!
