Keeping your iPod (or MP3-playing device of your choice) warm is clearly an important business, because the net is full of 'cozies' to keep them safe, snug and scratch-free. There's a whole website devoted to them, but those all look a bit boring and corporate, so I've picked this selection out of the thousands of handmade ones to demonstrate the sheer range of ideas out there for dressing up your music player. The hippy-dippy rainbow one, pictured left, was made by Starsview on Craftster.
If you're new to knitting, why not make this your first project? Gone are the days when a sock would've been your initial challenge, try knitting this basic iPod cozy on craftbits.com. If the result is too plain for you, you could always sew on some buttons, sequins or other bits and bobs you've got lying around for a fun and funky accessory.
Now for some inspiration...
Being six at heart, I'm particularly grabbed by these 'crocheted cutires' from Chuckle Central (below). It would be easy to produce your own, with just a few embellishments like buttons and wobbly eyes to get that playground look absolutely spot on!
Another inventive way to personalise your music player is by using canvas cross-stitch and colourful thread. There's a great tutorial here on how to do it.
If you've got the stitching bug, why not go a step further and decorate your cozy with a spot of embroidery? All you'll need is some felt in two or more colours, some thick thread and your imagination. A nice, bold silhouette like this one works well: There are some more detailed instructions here.
Our sister site Shiny Shiny featured these 'iPod cozy cuties' a while back. They're available at Japanese 'kawaii' emporium "Frosty Cream Clothing
