Sewing my first quilt, by Nichola Prested

quilt.JPGSewing a quilt was on my list of goals last year and i didn't manage to get around to it so this year i made sure i got started on one. When i say quilt i mean a proper quilt, the real deal; picking a pattern, sewing blocks, measuring precisely, matching fabrics and all the other stuff that goes with it.

I've made blanket quilts before - you know the kind, two pieces of fabric sewn together with a piece of cotton wadding in the middle, easy peasy. I'm lucky that i know some fabulous women that make the most beautiful quilts who give me tips and advice when i need it. My local quilting store is only a 15 minute walk away which is both wonderful and dangerous. Follow the jump to see my progress so far...

What you see are the blocks placed side by side but they won't be sewn up this way. I took inspiration from this Denyse Schmidt pattern.

Now that i have shown you the beginnings i feel the need to work on it more. I'll be back with an update.
