How to make sweet wrapper jewellery
I remember when I was a kid I used to put crisp packets and chocolate wrappers in the oven and turn them into key rings. I found someone who has turned a crisp packet into a bracelet and thought it was a brilliant idea. I was so excited I went straight into the kitchen to find wrappers that I could use.
There are two ways of shrinking the wrapper; follow the jump for instructions on both methods.
Method One:
1.Treat yourself to a packet of crisps or chocolate
2.Flatten the wrapper
3.With a pair of tongs, hold over a naked flame. Not too close or else it will completely melt but close enough that the heat starts to shrink the plastic.
4.Be careful, it happens very quickly and also make sure not to touch the wrapper after taking it away from the flame (the plastic will still be hot)
Method Two:
-Repeat step one and two from method one.
3.Lay the wrapper on an OLD backing tray
4.Put the baking tray into a pre-heated oven of 170 degrees Celsius.
It should take between five to eight minutes to shrink, but keep a constant eye on it.
5.Once the wrapper has shrunk, remove from the oven.
6.Pour water onto the pan slowly – this allows the wrapper to be removed easily.
Once you have shrunk your wrapper, you can customise it any way you want.
I used a hot matchstick to make two holes on each end of the shrunken wrapper and threaded it onto a ribbon. I now have my very own customised Snickers bracelet or necklace.
