Craft in Progress: Left Twist Sock

The problem with finishing a knitting project is that I almost always have to start another one right away! To that end, I have modified a pattern from Hello Yarn and started another sock.

This Cable Twist Sock pattern is meant for worsted-weight yarn and larger needles than I have on hand. But, because the stitch repeat information is handily included, sizing these socks up for fingering-weight sock yarn was no problem whatsoever.

I'm also madly in love with the yarn I'm using. It is Twinkletoes Sock yarn from Somewhere Over the Rainbow, an ebay store. I love the colorway (so much so that I bought both hanks that were available, sorry!) and the feel of this squishy yarn. I haven't tried the superwash, so I don't know if it is nearly so soft.

This pattern has proven to be really simple. The challenging is in twisting the stitches. It's a tricky little maneuver that almost saw me frogging the project and starting something else. But I stuck with it and, after three and a half pattern repeats, I feel like I have totally gotten the hang of it. Now it's good that this sock moves along pretty quickly. Without the challenge of the twist, this sock is basically 5x2 ribbing. Which should make for a stretchy, totally comfy sock (a nice change from the inelasticity of the Jaywalker).

I'll keep you updated as I continue to knit!
