Geek Craft: Coin Bank

bank1.jpgHere's a geeky place to store your spare change: a coin bank made to look like a Question Mark Block from the Super Mario Bros. games. If you're one of the very few people who hasn't played a Mario game on the Nintendo, a coin is one of the common items that is found inside these blocks in the game, making it a cute place to store all of your pocket change. It is crafted with Perler Beads - the sides are ironed together, and then the pieces are glued together into a box shape. Make sure to leave a slot in the top to drop in your coins! The top is also removable, so you are able to retrieve your money at any time. For a more secure lid, I made the lid of the box double-layered: the lid is 16 beads by 16 beads, so I glued a 14 bead by 14 bead square on the inner-side of the lid so it would fit snugly inside the box. These coin banks, along with a large variety of geeky things are available for purchase in my Etsy Shop.
