Have you visited KnittingHelp.com? What a great resource. You'll find a variety of videos illustrating basic and advanced knitting techniques. Descriptions are colour-coded to indicate whether continental or English method is shown. Videos range from brief silent clips showing a particular stitch, to longer narrated pieces that both explain and demonstrate a technique. Neither the filming nor the narration appears particularly professional, but it doesn't matter. For new knitters and those picking up another technique, it can be very confusing to understand written instructions and still images. Knitting requires motion, and in these videos you can see the action occurring.
A down side of these videos is that they are difficult or impossible to load for dial-up internet users. If that's you, visit Arcadia Knitting Tutorials for shorter Quicktime videos that are available for both high- and low-bandwidth.
