Yarnstorm is always a good read, as it's packed with ideas and inspiration for new projects, and what makes it so easy on the eyes is that the writer is such a great photographer. I was first drawn in by her flower pics, but it was these amazing 'flowerburst' crochet squares that really caught my eye. They look good enough to eat!
The secret behind these squares is understandably kept quiet, but I've done a bit of searching and come up with some basic crochet square patterns so you can try out your own. Mile a minute has some quite detailed instructions for a number of different square types for putting together an Afghan rug, and if you're more of a beginner, you can download a pdf for a very basic 'granny square' at the JPF crochet club.
