I'm certainly not a plastic bag: Knit your own 'Everlasting Bagstopper'

everlastingBEAUTY.jpgRe-usable shopping bags are all the rage at the moment, but with all the hoo ha over Anya Hindmarch's 'I'm Not A Plastic Bag' bag the inevitable backlash of make-your-own shopping bags has started. Over at Knitty.com there's a pattern for a simple and functional shopper, cleverly named the 'Everlasting Bagstopper'. It's made from hemp, and knitted using garter stitch and mesh stitch, which makes it strong, light and expandable. The handles are ribbon and it has a drawstring feature which keeps the bag nice and compact when it's not in use, so it's perfect for stowing in your handbag.

    Idea is good in principle, but i am;

    A) Sick of the whole plasic bag / ecofriendly shopping carrier / money making swinddle by a designer debate

    B) I just plain dont like the bag. Sorry

    (But I don gave my principles.... I bought a swis shopping bag when I visited Zuric. In super markets they dont provide bags full stop, which was a little akward when we went shopping for the first time. Everyone carries around with them bags that fold up into pouches. I got a really nice pretty orange print one about 2 yrs back. And its still with me)
