Re-usable shopping bags are all the rage at the moment, but with all the hoo ha over Anya Hindmarch's 'I'm Not A Plastic Bag' bag the inevitable backlash of make-your-own shopping bags has started. Over at Knitty.com there's a pattern for a simple and functional shopper, cleverly named the 'Everlasting Bagstopper'. It's made from hemp, and knitted using garter stitch and mesh stitch, which makes it strong, light and expandable. The handles are ribbon and it has a drawstring feature which keeps the bag nice and compact when it's not in use, so it's perfect for stowing in your handbag.
