Stampington and Company have quite a selection of magazines from which artists can choose. Lately, my favorite has been Belle Armoire, which focuses on handmade and wearable fabric art.
Belle Armoire gets it right where other magazines fall short. The photography is beautiful and there are plenty of images to get your creative juices pumping, but the discussions of techniques are also clear and concise. No steps are skipped here!
The July/August issue is especially appealing to me because it features aprons of all sorts. Aprons aren't just for the kitchen anymore, after all! If you've been following fashion trends you'll know that aprons have been spotted all over town.
There's also a great section featuring altered garments. If you're looking for inspiration because you have some forgotten gems in your closet, I suggest you start reading with this section.
Belle Armoire isn't trying to do too many things at once. It is, principally, a magazine to browse through when you are in need of ideas. The techniques given are, as I said, clear, but the true value here is the message that you, too, can make beautiful and individual items of clothing.
