FBO75N4F3PIEMV9.MEDIUM.jpgWe've seen felt bento boxes here on Crafty Crafty, but there's a new trend emerging all over the craft blog community for creating real life bentos as a form of food craft. It seems that people have caught on to the fact that as great as felt bentos look the bottom line is you can't actually eat them! The Japanese have been using these lunchboxes for centuries, and it wasn't long before they became works of art in their own right. As with all crafts there is a method for creating the perfect box, including the The 4-3-2-1 rule: 4 parts rice, 3 parts protein, 2 parts vegetable, and 1 part "treat" (Usually either pickled vegetables or something sweet.)

This brilliant tutorial on Instructables explains it all, but be warned...do not attempt this tutorial if you are ravenously hungry!
