Humans are an auditory species as well as a visual one, but there are varying degrees to which one can tolerate either. I tend to be a very visual person with difficulty focusing if there is too much noise around me. This can get in the way of socializing, as I tend to get distracted by other conversations, TV shows that are on and music.
There are many instances that I can think of where the music is barely audible, but I'll be able to hear it and I'll get distracted by a song that I know! Oddly enough, I find it very difficult to focus on crafting (or writing, cleaning, exercising or any number of activities) unless I have some other form of stimulation going on, be it a conversation, a TV show/movie or music...all of the things I listed above as distractions when it comes to conversations! (As a side note, I've been told that listening to music can help people who have ADD and ADHD concentrate.)
So how about it? Music while crafting? Yay or nay? And while you're commenting, list some of the music you like to listen to. I currently have Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen on heavy repeat, as well as Death Cab for Cutie and a bit of Bonnie Tyler, Melissa Etheridge and a couple of other fast paced artists.
