Knitty Calendar Competition deadline looms

calen2.jpgI don’t think that there are many of us sultans (and sultanas (or is that a dried fruit?)) of string that don’t know what Knitty.com is. It has all the things a knitter loves: free patterns, informative yet amusing articles, and even an online store where you can buy a t-shirt that states the immortal line “Don’t you wish your girlfriend could knit like me?” Most of us have knitted, or at least wanted to knit, something from Knitty’s pages.

What to do with it once it is knit is another thing altogether. Keep it or give it, it really doesn’t matter. The one thing we all desire deep down is just to show it off to as many people as possible, in a subtle but loud I-made-this manner. So Knitty’s 2008 Calendar Competition seems like the perfect place to do just that, AND win yourself a BIG BOX full of current knitting books and a variety of gorgeous yarns from all the great yarn companies Knitty works with.

calen1.jpgThe deadline for entries is the 17th of August, which doesn’t give you much time to get them in, so grab your finished knitty project and your camera, pick somewhere to bring out the best in your item, and get snapping.

You can also check out the 2006 and 2007 calendars for a few ideas if you get stuck (though I assume popping over to the steps of the Sydney Opera House is out of most of our neighbourhoods). Good luck!
