National Knitting Week 2007

nationalknit2.jpgHot on the heels of Worldwide Knit in Public Day comes the UK-based stitching beast that is National Knitting Week. A week that sees knittiness happening all over the country like some kind of unstoppable woolly virus.

2007 will be no different. The week begins on the 14th of October, and goes on for seven days of all sorts of events all over the place. It kicks off with the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace (which I went to last year and was more than fabulous), and from there it could end up anywhere, doing anything.

nationalknit1.jpgYou can register an event on Knitting magazine’s site, or just keep an eye on it for goings on in your area with their handy map.

Last year’s Week saw knit crawls, big knit outs, the beginnings of the London Lion Scarf, a world record attempt, and countless runs at becoming the fastest knitter in the world. Doubtless you can expect more yarn-flavoured madness than you can shake a bamboo 2.5mm at this year. So get your knitted thinking caps on, and come up with something inspired.
