Knitters in New York are coming together to create a scarf of 40,000 rows. The Big Draw Scarf is in aid of The Big Draw Festival, presented by NYC’s Drawing Center, which is America’s only fine arts institution solely for the exhibition of drawings. It is part of their River to River Festival, and each stitch will represent one of the 40,000 employees at the World Financial Centre.
You can visit the magnificent glass atrium Winter Garden of the World Financial Centre to drop in with your piece, join in with the knitting, and meet fellow participants. The plan is to knit The World’s Longest Line, and the resulting mammoth scarf will be donated to the Drawing Centre when it is finally cast off on September 8th, the day of the festival.
