I tend to think crafting is a bit under-represented here in the UK, with most of the best craft websites hailing from Canada and the US. I've lost count of the number of times British crafters have bemoaned the lack of home-grown talent, so it's great to see someone else doing something about this!
Step forward Folksy, which is due to launch in the next fortnight. Folksy will be based in the UK and aims to rival Etsy as a platform for Crafty goodies. While I'm sure I'll never abandon Etsy, and can speak for most of the craft community when I say this, it'll be great to have a fresh source of inspiration and daily craft fix from a group that's local to me. And I'm sure those on the other side of the pond will appreciate the variety too.
I ran into the Folksy team at the Innocent Village fete yesterday - on possibly the hottest day London has seen in a year. They seemed like a great bunch with lots of ideas, and I look forward to seeing what they come up with! Their blog is online now.
