Wednesday wearables: Painted Shoes

Who isn't on a constant search for unique and inspiring footwear? Or is that really just me? Craftster-user cardigan has taken a pair of cheap slip-on canvas shoes and, with a bit of fabric paint and a leaf from Piet Mondrian's book, turned them into masterpieces for the feet.
There are plenty of great sites for inspiration when it comes to painting your shoes. Punk Your Chucks is dedicated to modding those classics of footwear, Converse All Stars. Check out those Lord of the Rings Chucks!
When you sit down to paint your own shoes, remember to use fabric paints for the cloth shoes and either specialty leather paints of acrylic paints with a flexible sealant for leather (or vinyl) shoes. Always apply a protective finish when you are done. You don't want all that effort to be for nothing the first time someone in a pair of boots steps on your gaily painted toes!
