Food craft: Polymer clay sushi

Crafter smarmyclothes recently made some realistic looking sushi from polymer clay. This entire set is made of clay, apart from the fish eggs, which are simple seed beads (and very effective in that role!) The various pieces -- ginger, wasabi, rolls and sashimi -- are life-sized and glued to a bamboo board to make them appear even more realistic.

For the sushi rolls, smarmyclothes says she considered making a long clay roll and then cutting it, to gain the effect of real sushi, but realized from her previous experience with polymer clay that it was actually easier to fashion each piece separately.

I have great admiration for the patience and skill involved in making this set look so realistic. Great idea as well, to package it in a take-out container when giving it as a gift.
