Extermini-knit! Knit a cuddly Dalek

extermaknit.jpg

Fans of Dr. Who will recognize the soft and knitted creations pictured here as Daleks - machines with one purpose - to exterminate! Now everyone can knit their own version. Extermiknit!

This pattern should be especially good for new knitters who want to practice or expand their skills. It involves knitting in the round, increasing, decreasing, and all sorts of other techniques to keep things interesting.

Instead of knitting another endless scarf (although that would suit the Dr. Who fans as well), try this Dalek project. And don't be afraid. If you need to get away from the Dalek, you can always go up a flight of stairs (because Daleks can't)!

Extermini-knit! Knit a cuddly Dalek - Comments

  • Heh heh - I used this pattern in two different articles in the last couple of months. It's so rad!

However, it's... it's... it's tragic: apparently Daleks can handle stairs these days. Did you see that New Who episode "Dalek"? Yeah, it levitated. (What's up with THAT?)

I think it turned up in some Wikipedia research I did a while ago that they took care of the "Dalek + stairs = fail!" problem as early as the late 60s, but it's just such a funny image that we hang onto it. I have a journal icon that has a Dalek sitting at the bottom of a flight of stairs, swearing in dismay.

  • This has made my day :)
