Make friends and make bags for supermarkets!
A new trend has emerged in the collision between saving the world and making stuff: Morsbagging, which tags itself as sociable, guerilla, bagging.
The idea is to start little groups, called ‘pods’ who get together with old scraps of fabric, a bottle of wine and have a fun evening sewing bags. Once you have enough bags, you distribute them free in local supermarkets, thus replacing the need for plastic bags. While doing so, you also try to educate shoppers about the dangers to wildlife of old plastic bags and urge them to re-use the morsbags instead of using up new plastic carriers.
It’s such a simple idea, you wonder why the Government hasn’t implemented it! You can get the pattern from the website, join an existing pod or start one of your own. Of course, you don’t need to have a group or even distribute bags, if you just make one for yourself that’s just as good.
Vey good idea. We've also made a shopping bag from macrame.
