Monday Inspiration: Voice knitting machine

Magdalena Kohler and Hanna Wiesener, of the University of Arts in Berlin (UDK), have created a project called Gelsomina.

Gelsomina is the intersection of a computer program and a knitting machine where voice recordings are translated into knitting instructions. Sweaters are the direct result of speech. Scarves illustrate voice.

Wearing your voice, the thing you have said as well as how you said it, as an item of clothing seems like a very intimate thing to do - particularly if you choose to give your voice to someone else! Which brings an all new layer to the Sweater Curse.
