Yay or nay: Animal bones in jewelry

Bones have long been used in the carving of beads. But what about bones in their natural, bony state? This necklace features the jaw bone of a fox as a centerpiece. What are the ethics of using animal bones in arts and crafts anyway? There are more pictures of this necklace here.

  • I think using bones (animal, fish, fowl or otherwise) is fine. Often these pieces come out with more....I dont know how to descibe it, just more feeling, more atmosphere?

    Ya know what I mean? You can touch the bones and connect with it. Its what we all are under the skin, eh?

    I live in the countryside, where you find bones all the time from animals who've died from one thing or another. I think bones in themselves can be attractive, and as long as the animal wasn't killed for bone itself, I see no issue with using it.

    It all depends on how the bone was acquired. If it's from roadkill, I have no problem with it.
