Knitting: Donyale Lacy socks

I featured Black Dog's fantastic beaded cami top in the summer, and having been so impressed with her work, decided to come back and find out what she's been up to recently.

Admittedly I could have come back with something more elaborate than these "Donyale" socks, but the art of sock-making is often overlooked, and this pattern is a particularly cute example. Beneath a garter st border, eyelet cables are separated by rows of purl stitches to create a snug fitting and pretty lace sock. The full pattern is available here for free.
