Here's a very quick and easy way to make a lovely greeting card. Take some card stock (I like using black, because colours stand out so well on it) and cut a piece to whatever size you want your card to be. Use card of a weight that stands up nicely when folded just once. To the front of the card, paste a square of patterned washi paper. (This is beautiful silk screened paper sold precut in squares at Japanese shops or suppliers of origami materials.) To the inside of the card, paste a piece of plain paper suitable for writing on. For a professional look, match or contrast the envelope to a colour found in the washi paper.
If you keep these paper supplies at home, you'll always have the materials at hand to quickly make an elegant card for any occasion. It's much cheaper than buying ready made cards, and can be easily prepared at a moment's notice. Choose colours and patterns that suit the occasion and the recipient. I give a lot of these cards, and people really do love them.
