New issue of Craft magazine is out

craft%20zine.gifThere was a buzz of excitement in the office when the new issue of Craft magazine landed on the mat this morning, and it's been hard work keeping it from wandering off my desk long enough to write a review! But now it's safely in my hands, here's a quick taster on what you'll find in Craft vol. 5...

There's a special focus on papercrafts this issue, with a great editorial on where to source paper from sustainable sources so the creations documented within aren't horribly un-green. Recycled paper projects include instructions on making a 'folded magazine cat' and some fabulous gift tag ideas that are ideal for Christmas. The mag features some of the best gift tags chosen in a recent competition that ran on the blog, and there are some very simple and effective ideas coming through: you can see the winners here.

Projects include an ambitious and quite beautiful bit of quilting: the personalized 'modern heirloom' quilt incorporates photo transfers, gocco prints and hand embroidery. There's also more on the sustainable style front, with clear and accessible instructions on making a festive party dress from your own custom, re-usable pattern, as well as turning an old shirt into a stylish skirt.

My personal favourite has to be another paper project: step by step instructions on page 133 will tell you all you need to know about recycling unwanted bills and junk mail to make custom-made personal stationery. Hours of fun!
