Crochet for (absolute) beginners

I've got a bit of a confession to make. Despite loving everything to do with crochet (except, possibly this), until this weekend I had never picked up a crochet hook in my life. I left it to the professionals; those with nimbler fingers and more of an ability to sit still.

But as I saw more and more wonderful patterns, I decided in the end I had to give it a try. I bought a hook and some yarn, and being a complete muppet when it comes to following instructions, sought out the simplest 'how tos' on the web. It took some time, but I eventually came across this wonderful site, which takes you slowly through all the basics with the patience of a saint. I've still only learnt to make a chain stitch, but I'm moving on to single crochet next, and can't wait to get on to the next stage. I'll post my progress as soon as it looks like anything!
