Mother's day gift idea: Easy going potholders

Stuck for an idea for a mother's day present? We'll be bringing you loads of crafty ideas that will make Mum proud of her talented offspring between now and UK mother's day (March 2nd).

The first project I've found that would make an original present for Mums who like to cook is this set of 'easy going' potholders over at Magknits. Simple to make, the oven mits are completely customisable -- which is lucky, because I think my own mother would prefer something a bit funkier than the lavander-based example here! Once you've knit the main body of each potholder, use up any old fabric swatches you've got lying around to line them, et voila, a quick and easy gift. Full pattern here.
