How to make your own knitting needles

There's something very satisfying about knitting with needles you've made yourself. Does that somehow make the resulting creation more unique to you? Well, it certainly feels that way when you've gone to the effort of making those needles!

The good news is that making your own knitting needles is quite easy and good fun, too. There's a good tutorial here, which includes details on how to make cute decorations for the needle tips, including an acorn design. Otherwise, you can use polymer clay such as Fimo or Sculpey as in the picture here. This is a great way to make your needles distinctive, which can be essential if you attend a lot of knitting meetups!
