Gossypium invites you to make your own sweatshop

I guess this is one 'creative' way to get around the problems of outsourcing labour! Fairtrade fashion label Gossypium is inviting customers to 'create their own sweatshop', and put together clothing sold by the label in special kits.

The pre-prepared packs, which are reminiscent both in concept and style to childhood favourite Clothkits, create a pretty smock dress from fairtrade organic cotton in a choice of three shades. You can your dress as simple or as complex as you like, with nine suggested style variations: once you've decided whether to make a short or long dress, or even a smock top, you can then choose to add frills, collars, plackets or cap sleeves to your creation. Sounds like a really satisfying and fun craft project, especially when you know you're making a unique eco-chic items that'll cost just £19.95

To help you get sewing, Gossypium have created some handy video tutorials. Follow the jump to see the first in the series: How to make a dress in 24 seconds. [Via Hippyshopper]
