Green Monday: make a snake toy from old tights
Over on Hippyshopper we've been looking at how you can offload your old tights without sending them to clog up landfill. Happily, there are now specific recycling schemes set up to deal with the ever-growing mound of holey hose, but here at Crafty Crafty we like to be a bit more creative about our recycling solutions, and I was totally 'charmed' by this snake toy made from little girls' tights.
Read on for some mind-bendingly simple instructions.

1. Cut both legs off a pair of tights (little girls' tights tend to work well for this as they are often more stripey and fun than the sort we sophisticated ladies wear, and are usually also more hard-wearing) Pull one leg over your arm, then pull the other leg over the top. Remove the tights from your arm and give them a good stretch.
2. Stuff with toy filler or chopped tights and stitch up the end. If, at this point, you have a burning desire to turn your snake into a caterpillar, you can do so by tying up the sausage into evenly-spaced segments with string.
3. Add a forked tonge made from ribbon or felt and attach some googly eyes with a strong adhesive.
