Make a ruffle shirt from a shower scrunchie
Here's another of those ideas that seem so obvious once someone else has had them: ever wanted to create a flouncy, New Romantic-style shirt? It's really very easy; all you need do is find yourself a white shower scrunchie.
You can read an account of how one crafter did it here, but the basic idea is you unravel the scrunchie and sew it on to a shirt to create some seriously flouncy ruffles that Robert Smith would be proud to stut his stuff in. What makes this project so effective is that when the mesh is used out of context it really doesn't bear any resemblance to its original function.
