Many British crafters already use Etsy to buy and sell all manner of eye-popping handmade goods, but I'm excited to see that Folksy, a homegrown version of the site that changed the face of crafting, has finally gone online and is now in beta testing mode.
I met the guys behind the site last year at the Innocent Village Fete, and remember thinking a site like this could be just what the UK craft scene was needing. As a commmited green, I'm also pleased that this fantastic concept is being brought to our shores, so that next time you see an ironic tea cosy or crocheted mushroom you just can't live without, you won't have to clock up the air miles. It's taken Folksy a while to get the site up and running, but now it's there (and it works just like Etsy, with individual shops) I think it'll go down a storm. Do send me details of your Folksy shops as they open!
