How to: dye pasta for crafting

dyed pasta.jpgWe've all crafted with pasta at some point in our lives, and it makes a safe and attractive plaything for young children. But why confine this fun and funky jewellery component to the nursery? If you dye pasta to be vibrant enough, it can create a really striking effect that will look great on all sorts of creations, as well as reminding the nostalgia-hungry of their schooldays. Always bound to be a hit!

Follow the jump to find out how to create these lovely colours

Here's what you'll need:

1. food colouring
2. dried pasta (any kind)
3. rubbing alcohol
4. ziploc bags

Directions:

1. place pasta in ziploc bag. double bag or place in a tupperware bowl in case of leaks.
2. completely cover the pasta with rubbing alcohol
3. mix in food coloring
4. let the pasta sit to absorb colour
(the longer they sit, the deeper the colour. I left mine overnight)
