OK, so I couldn't even wait until the first day of October to start banging on about Halloween, but let's face it, the festival of spookiness is a crafter's dream, and we're all just as excited as each other about making the best ever monsters, ghosties and pumpkins galore. And it's only a month away now, which means you've just got to get cracking on those more complicated projects. So here's a few I've found that might take a bit of work, but will be well worth the wait...
Follow the jump for some fun ways you can look forward to halloween
If you like a challenge and the chance to show off your creations, Craftster has a fun one in the run-up to Halloween. They're running a mini doll swap to see who can make the spookiest and most gruesome toys. The theme is creepy, mysterious, dark, otherworldly, ghostly, creepy-cute, just plain offbeat, or otherwise in the "spirit" of the season. Think zombies, skullies, ghosts, spirits, human/animal hybrids etc.
If you've never knit a pumpkin before, now can be your chance to learn! By the time halloween rolls around, you'll have plenty of these babies lying around, each with different 'personalities'...and unlike the carved variety, you can keep a yarn pumpkin and bring it out year after year.
There are some lovely examples of yarn pumpkins here on curly purly, along with instructions on how to knit your own, face or no face. You can even make your pumpkin with green yarn and a bobble stitch and call it a gourd!
More ideas to come throughout October...
