Here's a fun variant on the traditional granny square: they're made using exactly the same basic technique, but with the face of our favourite Japanese cat peeping out at us. How cute! I think they'd make an ideal basis for a pet blanket, but Susie Can Stitch used hers to make a tote bag and a dolly purse. If you want the pattern for yourself, be warned: copyright law makes it hard to find one that isn't in the original Japanese. I managed to track one down here.
