How to: Make a Christmas stocking
When I was young enough to believe in Santa Claus (and for quite a few years after that, too) I cherished the stocking that my mother had made me from bright yellow felt covered in Christmassy ornaments. By the time my siblings came along, she didn't have the time to make more, so they all got shop bought ones...which I've gotta admit, made me one pretty smug kid!
The lesson here is - make stockings. Even if you haven't got kids, make stockings now so you'll have plenty in reserve! It's the best antidote to sibling rivalry, and there are some pretty cool ones to inspire you on the web.

This neon beauty is by The Solitary Thread. It's got that pixie-boot feel about it, and I love her choice of colours. Santa certainly wouldn't miss that one in the dark!
Felt is probably the easiest material to work in if you're making a stocking. These fun 'mom made' stockings by Ann Rosso are a great example of how you can easily embellish them, too. Wikihow has some instructions on how you can do it here.
You can use any sort of print for a stocking, in this case, our favourite cat from Japan. Available for $9.75 on Etsy
