Tying the knot? Why not have a crafty hen party

make lounge.jpgIf you're more of a fascinators and crochet hooks kind of bride-to-be than a bunny ears and wands type, then a fun and relaxing girls' night in could be just the ticket to a happy and well-stitched marriage! You might want to get a friend to organise a craft get-together, ordering in lots of crafty supplies for you and your girly friends to get your hands on over a few glasses of bubbly and a cupcake or two.

Or, you may be lucky enough to live near a craft centre that will sort it all out for you: I visited the MAKE lounge in London yesterday; a fabulous haven of craftiness in the city that will do exactly that...

The Islington-based lounge (which offers a wide range of workshops in everything from knicker-making to 'survival sewing') has become an increasingly popular hen party option, is set in a stylish, contemporary house that's equipped with everything you need to create fabulous handmade objects of desire, while you tuck into cupcakes and a drop of wine with friends.

Don't worry if your friends are not exactly a pantheon of crafty goddesses, as a team of experts will be on hand to instruct you in your chosen activity, which could be anything from millinery to bath and beauty products. My favourite bit: you can even bring your iPod with a favourite playlist which staff will rig up to their sound system!

Check out the MAKE Lounge's party page for more info on booking a hen event.
