Strangest craft material you've ever used?

dog-hair-yarn.jpgThere's a big trend in craft just now for re-using and recycling materials, and noone can deny that this is a very good thing. thrift, creativity and resourcefulness are all qualities to aspire to, and they've given rise to the cigarette cardi, junk mail art and the lolly-stick log cabin among countless other treasures.

But where do you draw the line between resourcefulness and sheer lunacy? In my experience, that point usually comes at the stage where pets are involved. There is something about turning your puppy or kitty into something else that I can't quite get my head around, and I think I may just have stumbled across the most bizarre example yet...

Read on after the jump: not for the squeamish!

I've heard of people knitting with both pet fur yarn in the past, but this one really takes the (dog) biscuit.

A member of a doggy chat community I won't shame by linking to here told a charming story about how he 'reclaimed' some crafting materials fresh from his dog's stomach, after the pooched vomited up parts of a plastic frisbee he'd been caught chewing. The resourceful pet lover then proudly explained how he had scooped up the puked up bits of plastic, turned them into earrings and given them to his mother, who now 'wears them proudly'.

[posting as his dog] the 'jewellery designer' said: "My mum loves her chewed up swallowed & puked back up earings , they could be all the rage soon. I just need another frisbee, but i dont see that im getting one in the near future!"

So have you heard a story that beats this one? Please email me and I'll share your story with the crafting community at large
