The humble toilet roll is, in my opinion, one of the best craft materials money can buy. You can use the paper to create all kinds of fun effects (bandage yourself up like an Egyptian mummy for fancy dress or turn it into paper roses) but it's the cardboard inner tube that really gets me hot under the collar!
As a child, I had hundreds of 'dolls' made from toilet roll inner tubes, each with individual names, faces and personalities. I had real dolls too, I should add - I was not a deprived child! But I liked making my own, and toilet rolls were the perfect shape and size. So I was impressed to see this beautiful and delicate rendition of a tree cut out of one by Yuken Teruya, who specialises in making art from everyday objects. Inspiring! [Via Craftzine]
