Meet our talented readers: #1 - Glittermouse
Thanks so much to everyone who took the time to fill out our Crafty Facebook survey: it's great to get to know a few readers and find out what you do. From now on I'll be featuring group members' work on the site and today, I'd like to introduce Annabeth Orton aka Glittermouse, who works with reused glass and tin to bring you richly decorated items which brighten and enhance interiors in a sustainably aware way.
Mouse, a selection of whose work you can see in the image above, is so committed to the idea of reusing discarded items that she's even been known to 'rescue' items such as discarded bottles and glasses from the streets in the aftermath of a Saturday night!

Glittermouse has been showing and selling these works at various events in and around the London area since the late 90s and ran a successful part time craft stall at Camden Market during 2006 and 2007. Since moving to Manchester in December, work has also recently become available for sale in The Eighth Day Health food shop and Café on Oxford Road and successfully sold at Chorlton's Big Green Festival.
Future events include work for sale with the Creative Recycling Gallery and at Chorlton Arts Festival where you will also be able to find some exciting recent developments in illustration on food cans. Mouse continues to be on a mission to explore even more possibilities for crafts made with recycled goods...
You can see example of these crafts and an even wider range of arts by Glittermouse at www.glittermouse.co.uk where you can also make contact to discuss private commissions which can be much cheaper and simpler that you might imagine. Hand painted items can be customised to reflect a special occasion, name, date, hobby or anything else that takes your fancy. Get in touch via the Message Mouse page to discover how much fun it is to get involved in the creative process by commissioning your own unique craft item!
