Pattern of the Week: Coffee Date Dress

coffee-date-dress.jpgIf you're looking to make a dress this summer that's stylish, versatile and relatively easy, you won't go far wrong with this free pattern at Burda Style, which has been given an intermediate difficulty rating.

The 'Coffee Date' dress is based on a simple shift garment with a sophisticated frill on the front that can be made either in the same fabric as the dress itself or in a contrasting colour. There are some lovely examples on the site, but I think I like this version by Burda member vintage.luvr, which incorporates a pretty, patterned fabric piece for the frill. Absolutely charming! I'd love to see the dress made in a spring-like mint linen with pale lemon frill, or possibly in raw silk for a more glamorous vibe.
