Accessorise Your Hair In 8 Easy Peesy Steps

Hair Accessory 1.jpg

If I can make a hair accessory out of these bits and bobs, anyone can make a hair accessory out of these bits and bobs. First, you're going to need to beg, borrow or buy some felt, fabric glue, thread, beads, pins, a needle and a hair clip. You'll also have to make yourself a template out of paper and as you will see, I've picked a butterfly. Next, you need to print off these directions, switch on your pod and enjoy a couple of well earned hours of crafty "YOU" time.

Read on for full instructions on how to make this funky accessory!

Secure your butterfly template on the felt and carefully cut round it. Oh, I forgot to mention that you're also going to need a wee pair of craft scissors, although any old nail scissors you can find, will do just fine.

Next, you need to cut out another butterfly and place one on top of the other.

Now, here comes the tricky bit. Using the tip of your scissors, you need to pierce the felt and make a couple of leave shapes on each side, just so it looks pretty and so you can see through to the felt butterfly underneath.

Fold the top butterfly wings towards you, so that the top butterfly sort of stands up on its own and then sew on some beads to outline the butterfly's body.

From your remaining beads, sew a couple underneath the top layer, again, just so that it looks pretty. There is no magic about the type of stitch you need to use, the key is just making sure that the beads are secure.

Next, you need to glue your butterfly onto a hair clip, using some fabric glue. Do use a decent amount of glue and don't worry about having a large white clump of glue on the back, as the glue will (fingers crossed) dry clear.

Finally, fix the clip onto your hair, throw on a matching outfit and enjoy. You deserve it!
