REVIEW: Dumbo & Dumbo-Er (A Little Experience)

D&D1.jpg

I received this Little Experience craft kit the other week and if an 8 year old can tackle this, then I knew that this had all the makings of a project, which I could enjoyably polish off in an evening. So, after cranking up the pod and selecting bulletproof by La Roux, I settled down for a spot of craft yoga.

Read on after the jump for the instructions

Now, when you open up the box, you'll find a large piece of cloth, some white stuffing, scissors, thread, a needle and some instructions. So far, so good.

Your first task is to cut out all the elephants. This sounds easy enough, but it was a little tricky, as the cloth is incredibly floppy!

Next, you have to place one elephant on top of the other and then stitch round the dots. It wasn't clear from the instructions what sort of stitch you needed to do, but I opted for a long running stitch. Also and in order to get the stuffing in, you need to remember to leave a small gap at the top.

D&D5.jpg

For some strange reason I found it difficult to push all the stuffing in. The stuffing just sort of felt like non-sticky candy floss and the harder I tried to squash it into all the nooks and crannies, the harder it got. Weird! Anyway, once you've stuffed your elephant, you then need to close the gap, you left at the top, with some stitches.

Voila, one elephant down and one to go.

And as if by magic, another one appears!

In short, I managed to polish this project off in a couple of hours and I enjoyed making these bad boys. Sure, it won't stretch you craft-wise, if you are a pro-sewer, but for a fun craft project, where you can actually see tangible results really quickly, then check this kit out. It would also be a great activity to do with a crafty daughter, neice or grand-daughter.

Oh and not that I did this, but you could always add some pot pourri to turn these into little scented cushions. I bet Sex And The City's Carrie Bradshaw has some scented cushions in her knicker drawer. Yes? No?

You can buy this kit online from the Little Experience for £9.99.
