Crafty London art

Craft has been nipping across into arty country for donkeys years and the line between the two is never really clear. Illustrating this fact from the depths of London's Deptford are The Little Artists, John Cake (great name) and Aaron Neave, who craft their art from the likes of Lego men, Scalextric, Smurf body parts and knitted loo roll ladies.

The Little Artists are possibly best known for their Lego mini versions of the work of well-known artists. Damien Hirst's Shark Tank (witness the slightly scruffy Lego Hirst) and Tracey Emin's Bed (Lego Emin has a tiny glass of booze) being Lego-hilarious.

If you know your Cattelan from your Judd it's well worth a look, but even if you don't it is fabulous to wander through their website. The Smurfnet pieces (Smurfheads used to make various art) and loo roll dolls in their fantastic knitted outfits are bound to give you a chuckle, and possibly make you drag your own crafts artwise too.

They aren't the only guys making art with LEGO.

Check out the sculptures depicting the human rights abuses at Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo Bay, Iraq, Lebanon, Darfur, Burma and Sri Lanka all recreated in LEGO here: http://legofesto.blogspot.com

Wow. What an amazing blog. Very insightful and educationally crafty. A very clever way to bring these incidents to people's attention.

I take my hat off to you.
